Starting 2018, I was the first Lifecycle Marketer to work on implementing a new in-app notification software and create the first onboarding experience for web and desktop clients of the RingCentral app.
One of the first issues the Marketing Team was trying to solve was low adoption after sign ups. In order to solve that problem we wanted to test if adding an onboarding at the beginning of the app would bring any value. Our main KPI we were tracking were retention rates and feature usage. We first tested our hypothesis that having an onboarding campaign was better than not having one at all.
The next test we wanted to run was a multi-variet test and spliting up the population across multiple platforms: Intercom, Pendo, and Chameleon.
As a result we found that Pendo had the higher retention rates than that of the other platforms. With our onboarding on Pendo versus control group, we saw 15% increase in retention in the first week and the number grew to 20% increase in retention over five weeks!
